Drivers Rehabilitation Assessments

Yet another dent in my parent’s car.

They do not have any idea what they may have hit.

“Oh, it’s just a scratch.”

Maybe they won’t notice.

Arguing with him again…

Dad just had a mild stroke and wants to start driving again.

I am so worried that he and mom will get into an accident.

In my opinion, he needs to wait awhile.

Loss of Independence

I had to move my mom into an Assisted Living facility.

She is angry that I took away her freedom and refuses to give up her car despite her getting lost while driving to the store.

It’s the last bit of her independence, even if she should not be driving.

I wish there was someone to whom I could turn.

The doctor reported it to the DMV, but that’s not enough if you ask me.

I want a neutral party to help.

Otherwise, I will be the ‘heavy’ in this situation, and I don’t want to decide without good advice.

Let us take the burden from you.

As Drivers Rehabilitation Specialists, we believe the ability to drive plays an essential role in a person’s overall independence.

The skills needed to operate a car may be affected by an injury, illness, or disability. For someone unable to drive, going to the store, work, doctor’s appointments, or even social events becomes a significant obstacle.

When there are physical, cognitive, or visual issues, it is crucial to assess the driving skills needed to remain independent.

At Wisdom of the Aged, we offer Clinical Driver Evaluations for people with a known or suspected cognitive or physical impairment that could affect their ability to drive safely.

A thorough, but private, assessment is provided.

We can complete a comprehensive assessment either in our office or in your home.

We use clinical procedures to reflect the demands of driving clearly and legally.

We will discuss the findings. Then you will receive a report that you can share with whomever you would like.

There is no mandatory reporting law.

Don’t be the heavy by carrying the burden alone!

Let us help you by being the “bad guy,” if needed, to determine your loved one’s safety behind the wheel.
