Is anyone out there?
You sit day in and day out in your own space, but you don’t want to call your children or be a burden to them. You are supposed to be their parent, not have them as yours.
But the loneliness and isolation set in, and you feel that there isn’t anyone who wants to hear you complain. Everyone has problems, right? Why should yours be so special?
Isolation isn’t living.
I can’t get out to see my friends like I used to do.
And my kids feel like I might be better off in Assisted Living.
I don’t want to complain to the staff because then they may not treat me so well.
The isolation can become unbearable.
Hiding behind a mask of happiness.
I am going to put on a happy face for all to see, even though I feel so hopeless inside, while wishing there was someone I could talk to.
I desperately need someone who would understand how I feel. I just want to be heard and not feel so invisible.
It’s lonely behind that mask.
